Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as Bad Bunny, has been one of my family’s favorite reggaeton singers for some time. We tried to see him in Puerto Rico, but found the expense and travel shockingly high. Pretty amazing that he filled an auditorium for a month.

His Super Bowl appearance was exactly what marketing planned. My own Mexican-American family gathered to watch him perform.

But where has he gone since? Hollywood! He’s made appearances in Bullet Train, Caught Stealing and the Happy Gilmore sequel.

Now, he stars in Porto Rico, a Caribbean western of the real life adventures of revolutionary José Maldonado Román, known as “Águila Blanca” (White Eagle), who led an insurrection against Spanish colonial rule.

We love the protest! Can’t wait to see his first leading role. Viggo Mortensen, Edward Norton, and Javier Bardem with the assist!

Perhaps one day, US politics will calm down and Benito will tour here again. In the meantime, here’s DÁKITI to tide us over.
